About Karburo

Karburo is an independent comparison service for drivers. It brings together dated fuel-price and charging data, then explains the real cost of a stop without presenting an estimate as a guaranteed price.

What Karburo does

Karburo finds stations around a place or along a route, compares the available fuels, includes the cost of the detour and can estimate short-term price direction with a confidence range. Electric drivers can compare charging locations where a usable provider returns data. The result is a decision aid, not a promise that a pump or charger will still show the same price on arrival.

Where the data comes from

Pump prices are collected server-side from public national registers, official services and attributed partners, depending on the country. Charging locations may come from national access points, open registers or community mapping. Every usable observation keeps its upstream date, country, currency and granularity so a national average is never presented as a station price.

How rankings and forecasts work

The station ranking combines the displayed price with the fuel or energy needed for the additional distance. Forecasts use observed history, recent movement and recurring patterns; they always include uncertainty. If there are too few reliable observations, Karburo falls back to a broader level or says that no dependable forecast is available.

Coverage and freshness

Coverage is assessed separately for fuel and electric charging. A country can therefore offer one energy type but not the other. Karburo keeps the last usable cache during a short provider outage, visibly flags older readings and only creates indexable local pages when enough dated station data is available.

Privacy by design

No account is required. Vehicle settings, favourites and alerts remain on the device unless a feature explicitly states otherwise. Location access starts only after consent, and a city can always be entered manually. Karburo does not sell a location history or use personal data to alter station rankings.

Funding and editorial independence

Karburo is free and supported by clearly labelled advertising on content pages. Advertisers cannot buy a better station position, change a forecast or edit a guide. Comparison order is determined by the available data and the vehicle parameters chosen by the user.

Limits and contact

Upstream data can be delayed, incomplete or wrong, and a station may change a price before the register updates. The price shown on site remains decisive. Editorial questions and corrections can be sent to contact@karburo.fr; privacy requests can be sent to rgpd@karburo.fr.

Frequently asked questions

Does Karburo guarantee the displayed price?

No. Karburo shows a dated observation and its freshness; the station or charger display is the final reference.

Does Karburo store my position?

No location history is stored for ordinary searches. Location permission is optional and a place can be entered manually.

Can an advertiser influence the ranking?

No. Advertising does not change prices, recommendations, rankings or forecasts.
